GoldStar Program

Common Questions & Answers

Learn more about the GoldStar Program and how it works.

Q: What will the Goldstar Alliances Program cost me?
A: The Goldstar Student Program is free for all who want to join.
Q: What are the requirements for enrollment into the Goldstar Student Program?
A: First, you must be entering your senior school year. Second, you and your parent/guardian must sign a consent form allowing for random drug and alcohol testing. Random D&A testing will be unscheduled four times during your senior year. Each student will be responsible for updating their records in the student portal.
Q: Will my student records require verification?
A: Yes. Each student and their parent/guardian must submit a signed consent form to allow interested companies to request verification of academics and D&A test results from the institution you attend. Interested companies can download a student’s signed consent from the student portal. Any student or parent/guardian may remove the consent at any time by deleting the signed consent form from the student portal.
Q: Are the drug & alcohol tests mandatory?
A: Yes. To stay in the program and access all the benefits, all D&A tests must be taken.
Q: When will I be Drug and/or alcohol tested?
A: Each student will be tested for drugs and alcohol before enrolling. Each student must pass an initial drug and alcohol test with negative results to be accepted into the program. Random D&A testing will be unscheduled three more times throughout the remainder of their senior year.
Q: How will I be notified of a random drug test, and how long will I have from the time I receive notification of my D&A test request to the time I must submit it?
A: Each student’s school counselor will notify them when and where the D&A test must take place.
Q: Who will retain the D&A test results.
A: The student’s school counselor will retain all records confidentially. Your counselor will give you a copy of the results to photocopy and post in your profile in the student portal.
Q: What options do I have if I fail or believe the test results are a false positive?
A: Each student will be allowed to take another D&A test if he or she feels the test results were erroneous. If positive results prevail, the student must seek counseling for drug or alcohol addiction or be removed from the program. If the student opts for help and can pass the next random D&A test, she or he will remain in the program. However, all test results and counseling must be reported in the student’s profile in the student portal.
Q: Who is responsible for updating the student records profile, and how often will they be updated?
A: Each student will be responsible for updating their profile in the student portal. All records will be required to be updated at the end of each semester with D&A test results being updated as soon as D&A results are received by your school counselor. The student is ultimately responsible for keeping their profile accurate and up to date.
Q: How do I access my profile data?
A: Each student will be able to access their personal profile through the student portal on the goldstarstudent.com website.
Q: Is my personal profile in the student portal protected?
A: Yes. Every student’s profile in the student portal will be login and password protected with the login and password of the student’s choosing. It is very important to keep your personal profile protected and secure. DO NOT SHARE YOUR LOGIN AND PASSWORD WITH ANYONE.
Q: Am I guaranteed a job upon graduation?
A: Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee any student a job.
Q: What if I change schools?
A: Changing schools will not affect your program if that school or institution is participating in the Goldstar Student Program.
